Living in Singapore
Hey guys! It's been a while since I wrote anything except WoWs. Well, I'm going to tell you why.
I don't have a lot of free time here and I don't know why but I feel really lazy to read anything. I usually can finish a book a day in Medan, But in Singapore, what I can accomplish is only around 100 pages a day. Because life seems so fast-paced, my reading becomes so.... slow? Hahha. That is a very weird logic.
Anyway, living in Singapore as a scholar is very busy, to say the very least. Since I'm just taking bridging lessons for now, there is still some free time to do the things I want. My seniors all said, "You should go out more often while you are still bridging. Because if you don't you're going to regret it when school starts." So, basically, bridging is just a sip of the business I'm going to experience. Woohooo!
I think that's it for today. I'm sorry for not posting more about books. Byeee....

FLIGHT
Ana’s exile is frightening, but it may also be fortuitous, especially if she can convince her friends to flee Heart and Range with her. They’ll go north, seeking answers and allies to stop Janan’s ascension. And with any luck, the newsouls will be safe from harm’s reach.
CHOICE
The oldsouls might have forgotten the choice they made to give themselves limitless lifetimes, but Ana knows the true cost of reincarnation. What she doesn’t know is whether she’ll have the chance to finish this one sweet life with Sam, especially if she returns to Heart to stop Janan once and for all.
With gorgeous romance and thrilling action, the final book in the Incarnate trilogy offers a brilliant conclusion to the compelling questions of this fascinating world, where one new girl is the key to the lives of millions.

Farewell
Hey, guys! Happy Halloween!! I know Halloween's usually a time when Ghost Busters and horror movies thrive. And people dress up in costumes to scare the living shit out of people. But, in Indonesia, it's not exactly an acclaimed day. Most of the time, people don't acknowledge Halloween. Usually it's just a few people who make parties to celebrate it.
Anyway, you must be wondering why I would write "Farewell" as my post title. It's because tomorrow, I'm leaving for Singapore. Earlier this year, I've been accepted to study in Singapore for 4 years on a scholarship. And it will commence on January next year. So, I'm going to be super busy and probably won't have time to read a lot of books. :( But, hey education is important. So, I'm sorry if I won't be online more often.
Hope you guys have a great Halloween!! :)

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
Hey, guys! I am currently obsessed with this book right here. This book is officially one of THE best books I've ever read. I just finished it last night. But, it was late. So, I decided to write this post today.
Goodreads Synopsis :
An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers.
After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.
Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.
Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?
Here's what I think :
OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! Oh My God! oh my god! omg! omg! omg! (fades in the distance). This book here is beyond words and awesomeness. I think this book is better than the first book - Throne of Glass. This book is a mix of young adult, fantasy, magic and so many other things into one. Usually I don't really like or read a fantasy book. But, Crown of Midnight proofed me wrong in so many levels. Although it IS a fantasy book, but it's not solely focused on the fantasy. That's why I LOVE IT!!!!!
First of all, the story is paced so perfectly. There's never a dull moment. It's always moving, always kept me wondering. (But sadly, I was not feeling well when I read this, so I kept reading in different moments of the day, which in turn, cause me to not get carried away in the awesome story that Sarah weaved.) It's about an assasin whose past was really shitty. (But, I think that's why it has its appeal. I'm starting to have a really wierd badass characters-who-have-really-shitty-past fetish. I mean it's really empowering to see their ascend towards glory or things like that.) And Celeana was perfect in her own broken kind of way.
Second, the romance, the LOVE TRIANGLE (but, I no longer think it's a love triangle. Gah! I don't know) between Dorian and Chaol is beautiful and infuriating. I think Chaol is Celaena's other puzzle piece. (I'm Team Chaol all the way!) I mean the King's Champion and the Captain of The Guards had rather similar pasts and they fit together so perfectly. But, because this is a story, of course there's a complication. (Why is there a complication?! WHY?!) They were so happy without stupid complication interrupting. Gah! But, the complication is important to the story. (Hmmm...)
Third, THE FEELS. The story is a roller coaster ride. So, it went up, up, up, high above and everything comes crashing down, down, down below. The happiness and the sadness all mingled together. The anger and the guilt interacted with each other. AH!! Why?!
Last, but not least, (because there is still much more to say) the revelations in this book is numerous and is placed in the end. (which is placed perfectly) Everything made much more sense after it is known. But, because the revelations are positioned in the ending, it made the ending particularly torturous because it's a CLIFFHANGER.

Spark by Brigid Kemmerer
Hey, guys! It's been a while. But, I'm back and ready to roll. Wow! That's a really lame catch phrase. Okay, I've just finished this book and I want to share it with you. Enjoy!!
Synopsis :
Synopsis :
Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally.
Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t.
Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it.
And no one seems to believe him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own.
Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.
The fuse is lit…

I've downloaded this series a while ago and I've been meaning to get into it, but I kept getting distracted by other books and so on.... So, I read this yesterday and finished it today. And I was mind-blown - still am. It was so sweet and badass at the same time.
Gabriel Merrick is definitely turning into one of my book boyfriends. I mean he seemed like a bully at the beginning, but it was like a defense mechanism for him. He wanted to hide that vulnerability and sadness and guilt with anger. I guess that's why most people misjudged him - including his brothers. But, Layne was the one who could get under his skin and just guide him through that tunnel of sorrow. Gabriel also helped Layne overcame her shyness and insecurities. It was so sweeeeeeet!! I was gonna melt in a puddle right there while reading their interactions. I think they were both each other's lifesavers. (swoooooonnnnnn...)
Okay, that was the sweet part, this is gonna be the badass part. There was no shortage of awesome action there. There was brawls, fires, even elemental fights. Yeah, I know. Cool, right? Though the action in the first book was epic, it wasn't as great here, but it was sufficient enough.
What spurred me to write this post is the hidden meaning in this book. It just hit me hard. It was so harsh to see people not doing anything wrong, but just because they exist, they were bullied. I mean how sick is that? You're not God, you know. You, bullies, are just insecure about yourselves and make other people feel bad just to make yourselves feel superior. This is just wrong, you know?!
Okay, guys, that's for today. I think I just wrote a crappy not-quite-there-yet review. And I kept on rambling God knows what. Ohh, I forgot, this series is a MUST-read. It's awesome, So, go check it out. Bye!!

The Curse of The Absentee
Hey guys, this is totally random, but everytime my parents - especially my mom - went abroad or is "ABSENT" and I have to take care of the stores, there seems to be a stream of curses heading my way.
It started since 2008, when they left for a vacation, my brother and I were in charge of the stores. So, that was the first time ever I - well, partly - was given the responsibility to run the stores temporarily and I was about ten years old then. So, things went smoothly enough... until night descended on us..... and... BAM!! BLACKOUT!!
Well, since we didn't have a generator, we just assumed that it was a mere inconvenience. But, you know luck is a capricious bitch (as said by Gin)... and she decided to show us some of her most charming side. Her educating side... Blechh..
So, what started as a puny disturbance turned into a full blown freak out when - to our surprise... haha.. seriously - the electricity didn't came while others were blessed by its ubiquitous presence. The bottom line was there was something wrong with the wires - I forgot whether there was a short circuit or something. So we could not access electricity. Haha... That was so funny, luck, cause we need to cook, shower, drink, and do everything using electricity. Ahh!! Seriously!! As I was in the state of semi-consciousness (it was midnight), my brain didn't truly registered that we were in a f*cked-up situation. It might seem so irrevocably simple the solution was for some of you... but hey!! We were young. So, the situation was handled somehow by my brother and my cousin. I was just there, although I didn't actually have to be the one who did the decision-making, but mind you I feel the pressure.
Okay, so that was the first time.. Awesome, right? There were probably a few times the curse struck after that but, I didn't recall it. Meh!! Maybe it was not that significant, I guess, or maybe I wasn't the one who was in charge. There was one when my brother was the temporary boss, he managed to lose a sum of money which disappeared, maybe?? Haha.. I don't know. There was another that happened this year on my watch. I haven't even kicked start the day, when our car crashed onto a marine(?) officer's motorcycle on our way to drop my mother off to the airport. I mean that was one heck of an opening show!!
So last week I got another shift at being a boss. The curse showed up uninvited again. This time it was all messed up in the ingredients part. But at least it was not a big catastrophic problem. Phewww!!
That's why I posted this today, to not jinx The Curse of The Absentee!! Haha.. Okay that's it.. Wow! This is the first time I wrote such a long post.. Awesome! Bye, guys! :)

Waiting on Wednesday (1)
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It spotlights the eagerly-awaited upcoming releases. This week's book is Allegiant by Veronica Roth. It will be released on October 22nd 2013 by Katherine Tegen Books.
Goodreads Synopsis :
One choice will define you.
What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?
The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.
But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.
Told from a riveting dual perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

Midnight Frost by Jennifer Estep
Hey guys! I know it has been a while, but I have come back with a vengeance! Haha.. just kidding. I've been busy writing a narrative — and definitely procrastinating — for a deadline last week. I have finally finished it. Yes!! Victory is sweet. A gruelling 13-page story hand written by me. I know it couldn't be compared with authors producing hundreds and hundreds of pages. But, I'm just that lame.. So, whatever...
Goodreads Synopsis :
Here we go again …
Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.
As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects me to lead the charge against the Reapers, even though I’m still hurting over what happened with Spartan warrior Logan Quinn. I’ve got to get my hands on the antidote fast — otherwise, an innocent person will die. But the only known cure is hidden in some creepy ruins — and the Reapers are sure to be waiting for me there …
Here's what I think :
Crimson Frost left me hanging there just heartbroken for Gwen. Because how could Logan did what he did. I know the whole "I'm afraid I'm gonna hurt Gwen again" thing is supposed to be sweet and all. But, seriously just seriously...
Okay, so basically I was dying to know whether Gwen and Logan were going to reconcile. So, I'm just gonna leave it hanging there. I'm not gonna be a spoiler. But I guess it was... predictable. I know, I'm kind of disappointed to say that this time the story was predictable. Really predictable. So, I was just so... so... — I'm sorry to say this — bored. It was like there was no surprises that left my heart beat a little faster and my mind spun a little wilder. I didn't make me say OMG and all that. (sigh)
I don't know if it's just me, but I think that Mythos suddenly became so PG-13. I mean there was nogory real details about the murder and killings. It just seemed super innocent. I don't know maybe Gin's growing on me with all her frankness in killings and badassness.
I guess if you've already read the series before, you should definitely continue. But, it has been disappointingly predictable.
Bye guys! :)

Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Hey, guys!! I got to announce something real quick. I finally got a new laptop! (cheering in the background). Heck, yeeeeaaaahhh! I've been intending to buy one but I just never got the time (or kind of lazy XD). So, I'm finally free of the cursed Acer laptop I used to use. It's so SLOW. I can't even open my own email there. Gah!! I'm serious. Every second with that laptop is a struggle to keep my cool. But, I made work.
Now, I'm in perfect bliss with my new Lenovo laptop. Though not very hi-tech, but I'm pretty content with it. Ah... Imagine that.
Okay, so while I was refusing to open my laptop to write a new post, I wrote one in my phone. My phone also definitely need replacing. So, it can't be written in this blog from my phone's browser, so I wrote the new post in my tumblr page. Check it out!

DNA
Hey guys!! How's your weekend? Today is my country's-Indonesia's-Independence Day. It has been 68 years since President Soekarno proclaimed our freedom. Wow!! Time flies. Hopefully for the years ahead, we could improve ourselves for the better. Fighting!!
So anyway, today my father asked me to search for my DNA test result I've had a few years ago. It's to remind me of my innate talent and to help me narrow my options for the educational direction I want to pursuit. Well, the freaking dilemma is between what I'm good at and what I like doing. Still, I guess it helps.... maybe a teensy bit. Haha... Okay, I won't figure in like 24 hours, but one day in the future I WILL.
There's this one that said propensity for teenage romance gene. And guess what?? Mine is not intense. Haha.. Take that Belinda!! (She always said that I have no feelings, no emotions for particularly boys, kids, etc) So, it's even stated in my DNA. Wow! I guess that's the funny thing about DNAs. It shows in our actions, hobbies, emotions, etc.
Okay guys, I guess that's it for today. I don't really know what I'm talking about. I just feel like rambling. Haha.. Bye. Have a good day. :)

Spider's Revenge by Jennifer Estep
Hey guys!! I'm sorry it's late but I want to say "Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1 Syawal 1434 H". Along with so many people in Indonesia, I mudik-ed to Siantar for the holidays. So while the Muslims celebrated with their loved ones, I spent the night reading Jennifer Estep's Spider Revenge from the Elemental Assassin series in the bathroom of my relative's house because of my semi-insomnia state. And the reason is that I couldn't stomach only a sip of my father's coffee (Well, irony's a bitch).
Goodreads Synopsis :
Old habits die hard. And I plan on murdering someone before the night is through.
Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very good at it. Now, I’m ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was thirteen.
Oh, I don’t think the mission will be easy, but turns out it’s a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I’m coming for her. So now I’m up against the army of lethal bounty hunters she hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister’s head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority. Taking Mab out is a close second.
Good thing I’ve got my powerful Stone and Ice magic — and my irresistible lover Owen Grayson — to watch my back. This battle has been years in the making, and there’s a chance I won’t survive. But if I’m going down, then Mab’s coming with me...no matter what I have to do to make that happen.
Here's what I think :
I am in love with GIN!! Not gin, but Gin Blanco (Like the liquor). This badass assassin has certainly kicked butt her way to my heart. This Stone and Ice Elemental contract killer is cold and strong on the outside but soft inside for the ones she loves. I have always loved Jennifer Estep's Mythos Academy series, but I never expected that I would like this gritty urban fantasy series. But I'm hooked from the very first page.
So, Spider's Revenge is the fifth book of the series and this is where the final showdown with Mab Monroe lies. I am so excited to read it after spending practically every night reading her books. It's freaking awesome and exceeds all my expectations. And the ending!! Y'all know how I hate it when the endings are confusing and just doesn't add up. But I understood and love every single word of it. I almost cried at the end of the book (Haha.. Just kidding because tears are a waste of time, energy, and resources, right Fletcher?). Although this book is about killing people in cold blood, but it has excellent morale messages.
You should check out other books by Jennifer Estep because I can guarantee you that it will leave you speechless and begging for more. Heck, even I'm waiting for her newest books, including the 9th installment for the Elemental Assassin series - Heart of Venom. Click here.
PS. (to Venny from probably everyone) Stop quoting Gin, sugar (Haha..)!! You make it sound so lame.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
As you know, I've finished reading three books out of Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. I have been eagerly waiting for the upcoming book, The Fiery Heart. Because of the roller coaster emotions I've been experiencing, I decided to read Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.
Goodreads Synopsis :
What if you only had one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?
Samantha Kingston has it all: looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it turns out to be her last.
The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. Living the last day of her life seven times during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.
Here's what I think :
I can say that I had doubts about this book because I don't really like the Delirium trilogy. But, I'm glad to announce that I was wrong. Although I don't absolutely love it, but it's quite moving. It's such a pleasure to see that Lauren has addressed many important issues that surround adolescents, like : bullying, peer pressure, taking life for granted, etc. It's great to see the character progressed and realized her own mistakes and eventually justifying it by sacrificing herself. I think a lot of people could really identify with the character.
Just like the Delirium trilogy, the thing that I hate about this book is THE ENDING. It's puzzling, to be honest. When I finished reading it, I was like : 'Huh??'. But, all in all it was okay.

Writing
This week, I've been given the dreaded writing assignment. Since I'm in my first semester, I only need to write a narrative (Fiuh...). At least that's better than writing an exposition. This time, there are two topics : supernatural and/or adventure story. Usually, I get really depressed because I have to think of my upcoming task ahead. But, I'm also looking forward to write something that's a little different. For my last two narratives, the characters I wrote are in their mid twenties to thirties. But for once I want to create a young adult-genre story.
It's gonna take a while, since I'm still brainstorming. And also because I'm really addicted to the Bloodlines series-the series that follow up the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead- that I just want to dive into every single hour I have to spare. I even spent these last couple of nights finishing those awesome books. Damn, I hate to procrastinate, but it's just super alluring.
Okay, I gotta go guys. There's a book waiting for me now. Haha... Bye!! :)

Jasmine's Birthday
Hey guys, usually nothing out of the ordinary happen on my Sundays. But since last week was Jasmine's birthday, I hung out with the ole' gang. Haha.. It's good to see them really. I didn't realize it but I actually miss the teasing, gossiping, trash talking, and boy problems (It REALLY is unexpected).
So, first we all gathered at Belinda E's house. Then, the birthday girl picked us up to go to Sun Plaza. That's where the teasing and gossiping started. Jasmine treated us at Teddy Coffee and we gave her the presents : an adorable Rilakkuma bag and a cute denim skirt-like pencil case. After that, we went to Gramedia to search for books and we were seized by a fit of narcism. Unfortunately, some of us had to go to practice or somewhere else. So, we parted ways with big smiles upon our faces at the end of the day.
